Analyst Ratings Page Overview

The Analyst Ratings page tracks Wall Street analyst actions on stocks — upgrades, downgrades, rating changes, maintained ratings, and initiations of coverage — so you can see how street sentiment is shifting.

The page has three main parts:

  • Sentiment Pulse — A flow chart mapping analyst sentiment (Bullish / Neutral / Bearish) to the actions taken
  • Ratings Grid — A paginated table of individual analyst rating events with price targets
  • Rating Spectrum — A distribution of current ratings from Strong Sell to Strong Buy

You can filter everything by ticker, sector, industry, rating action, rating, analyst, and date range. A compact snapshot of Sentiment Pulse and the Rating Spectrum also appears on the Dashboard with a "View full ratings →" link that opens this page.

What is Sentiment Pulse and how do I read the Sankey chart?Analyst Ratings
+
Sentiment Pulse Sankey Chart

Sentiment Pulse shows how analyst sentiment connects to analyst actions for the selected period.

How to read the chart:

  • The chart is a Sankey diagram — one side shows sentiment buckets (Bullish, Neutral, Bearish), the other shows action types (Maintains, Upgrades, Downgrades, Initiates Coverage On, and more)
  • Each ribbon connects a sentiment to an action; ribbon width = number of ratings flowing that way
  • In the default mirrored layout, actions appear on the left and sentiment on the right, with ribbons flowing from sentiment into action
  • Hover a ribbon to see the exact counts for that combination
  • The eight largest action types are shown; smaller ones are grouped into an Other node
  • The subline under the title shows the date range the data covers

Action chips next to the title summarize the main action types at a glance.

What is the Rating Spectrum?Analyst Ratings
+
Rating Spectrum Chart

The Rating Spectrum shows the distribution of current analyst ratings along a scale from the most bearish (Strong Sell) to the most bullish (Strong Buy).

  • Each bar is one rating label; its length is the number of analysts holding that rating right now
  • The colored tier ribbon groups labels into three bands: Sell, Neutral, and Buy (for example "Hold" and "Equal-Weight" sit in the Neutral band)
  • Ratings the platform doesn't recognize appear in a gray Unmapped band at the bearish end instead of breaking the chart
  • Click a tier band to emphasize it — this highlights the chart only and does not filter the table

The chart is deliberately a distribution, not a single consensus score, so you can see how divided the street actually is.

How do I filter analyst ratings?Analyst Ratings
+

Click the filter icon on the right side of the page header to open the filter drawer. Available filters:

  • Ticker — fuzzy search across all symbols
  • Sector and Industry
  • Rating Action — e.g. Upgrade, Downgrade, Maintains
  • Rating — e.g. Buy, Hold, Sell
  • Analyst — search by analyst name
  • Date Range — limit results to a specific window

Filters apply immediately — there is no Apply button. Active filters appear as removable chips above the table: click the X on a chip to remove that filter, or Clear all to reset everything. On tablets and phones the drawer also has a Mobile Optimized View toggle for the compact card layout.

What does the ratings grid show?Analyst Ratings
+

Each row is a single analyst rating event. Desktop columns:

  • Date — when the rating was issued
  • Ticker and Company — the covered symbol and its company name
  • Sector and Industry — how the covered stock is classified
  • Action — Upgrade, Downgrade, Maintains, Initiates Coverage On, and similar
  • Rating — the current rating, shown as "prior → current" when the rating changed
  • Price Target — the analyst's target price, shown as "$prior → $current" with the percentage change when the target moved
  • Analyst — who issued the rating
  • Sentiment — Bullish (green), Bearish (red), or Neutral

Ticker, Sector, Industry, Action, Rating, and Analyst cells are clickable — click one to filter the whole page to that value. Some column headers are clickable to sort, and the table is server-paginated — use the pager to move between pages.

On smaller screens the table switches to the Mobile Optimized View card layout (toggle it from the filter drawer). Each card shows the ticker, company, and a colored sentiment pill, the analyst's summary text, the analyst, action, rating, price target, and date.
